Short Stories

Occasionally I am asked what I do all day.  Well, I write.  And at times I look out the window and think and think and think and wonder why nothing is happening in my brain.

Often my ideas come in the form of short stories.  Some remain just that and nothing more but others grow into screenplays or novels.  I have placed two of them on my website.  If you have a few minutes, take a look at Morning Coffee and A Day in Barney's Life.  I hope you find them amusing.

Team God

With the start of the professional football season one thing is assured; the fans of 31 teams are going to be very disappointed.

History is like a game that is not over until the final second has ticked off the clock and yet there are those who are already disappointed in Team God.  He has lost, they say.  It is over.  Or they do not like His game plan so they go off to play with their own game plan, placing their faith is in something or someone; governments, organizations or people who eventually disappoint those who placed their faith in them.

Standing outside history, God tells humanity that He has already won the game.  He even caused a collection of books to be written to show how He will win and has promised never to disappoint those willing to put their faith in him.  But like a fickle football fan, people look at the world and claim that God has lost and the other team has won.

The Bible says that God will win and those who stand with him will be declared winners with Him.  Every day is a choice, on whose team will you play?  Choose wisely because there will be a winner and many losers.  “But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

Impossible And More

The trend in Hollywood for the moment is making films of superheroes.  Perhaps it is because Earthly heroes have disappointed the public so they search for a replacement, even if those are pretend heroes, created in the mind not in reality.  Yet, God waits for His people to rediscover that He is the great hero, the one who will save us from everything including our own failures.

Today, I will ask God to do the impossible.  To ask anything less seems an insult to His true nature.
