People have been looking for signs since the beginning of civilization. Show us, tell us, reveal to us what will be, what will happen; they ask of any who would pretend to know. Many have made careers out of telling others about the future. Mostly, they have been wrong or have had to reshape current events so as to appear correct about past predictions. The end is the same, they are just guessing. And yet, God has already told His creation all it needs to successfully arrive at the right end of history. And all we have to do is recognize the sign He has given. May God grant you the greatest gift of all, the sight to see how you might make your future a glorious one. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Friends told their daughter this year that Santa Claus was not real. I never believed in Santa as a real person. As a kid growing up, he was just a fun part of Christmas but the focus was always on the festivities around the birth of the Jesus Christ, come to be the Savor of Man. And that is worthy of a massive celebration. There are so many wonderful aspects of Christmas with the magic of the season when people think about others by giving gifts, donations to charity and throwing parties for friends. Houses and entire communities are decorated with lights and trees. Television has special Christmas programs and old sentimental movies. In church, there is the buildup to the big story of Mary, Joseph and the manger birth with seasonal music and candlelight services capping it all. So drink in the excitement and enjoy the good cheer. There is no time like Christmas, the season of great joy.
"To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, 'If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.'" John 8:31-32
