There has been a lot of chatter about how bad 2016 was. And yet, it is really all perspective. Some sports fans have cheered the outcomes during the year while others are left to talk about next year. There have been the passing of notable people; celebrities, pop stars and other famous individuals. However, every year has its share of deaths. For some, politics was a source of massive disappointment, while for others, certain political outcomes were jubilant occasions. In 2016, there were births, weddings, opportunities to celebrate and successes both personal and professional. And, I am sure, a number of failed dreams and aspirations.
As I look toward 2017 beginning, I do have expectations. Some of what I thought would occur last year did not, perhaps it will this year. The year ended far differently than I had anticipated 12 months ago and I expect this one to do the same. I am older, according to that calendar we just put up, and that means new milestones, many of which I have no control.
The positive aspect of a change in the calendar year is that it allows us to mentally reboot. We can be optimistic because things will change just as the year has changed. So, Happy New Year. I hope and wish for you all the best.
