As an amateur historian, I am aware that the world is a violent place that occasionally has moments of peace. The world around us is in flux and that creates uncertainty. Like most people, I am uncomfortable with uncertainty. The unknown can even scare me. I find I spend more time focused on the unknown future than the reality of today.
That reminds me of one of the influential men in my life who used to say, “God is on the throne and He ain’t nervous.” In other words, God is in charge and He knows what the future holds; He has things under control.
So I try to remember that I am merely walking through this physical world; a stranger on my way to my spiritual home.
